3 Cost Effective Online Marketing Strategies for Small Businesses

Cost effective marketing strategies

Small businesses today have all the prerequisites to growing big inexpensively.
In fact, online marketing can cost you as little as you want it to.

All you need to do is know the basics and be willing to do the groundwork. Don’t know where to get started?
Try these 3 cost effective marketing strategies.

1. Give your visitors something extra

There are millions of websites just like yours. What can you give your customers they can’t find anywhere else? What can you offer that will incentivize people to stay? That makes it unique and worthwhile their time?

If you were a physical business, like a café or a hairdresser, you might offer free Wi-Fi or newspapers, or a really cool interior. As a small online business, it could be free content, competitions or a forum.

Giving value for free on your website could be the difference between a sale and a bounce.

A blog section is one of the common and cheap options. Not only do you offer your customers something free, you also get to educate them about your product. Plus, text pleases Google’s search algorithms as that's what helps Google understand what your website is all about and makes sure it ranks higher when people search for businesses like yours.

Free value could also be free pictures, coupons, competitions, video content or just about anything else you can think of.

2. Use social media to connect with your customers

Many people use social media to share their content and advertise products or services. That’s totally legit, but that’s not all social media can do.

The beauty of social media is that you can connect with your customers in a personal and genuine way. If you are a life coach, you can join discussions about life, philosophy or mental illness. You might share personal anecdotes to connect in a more genuine way. If you sell cricket gear you can join discussions about games or players. You can also find out what people need by engaging with them directly, either through comments, discussions or polls.
Sponsoring Youtubers to review your product or service is another great way to get exposure.
Sponsoring Youtubers to review your product or service is another great way to get exposure. You don’t need to offer them lots of money; you can send them a free product for them to review or give them a free service.

3. Register your business with Google

Registering your business with Google is like having a nice shop window to the street. When someone searches for your business, your information shows on the right of the search results on google, including any pictures and reviews you might have. This is an easy and effective way to up your game and seem that much more professional.

Simply go tobusiness.google.comand click "Start". You will have to fill out your business information such as name, industry and address and allow Google to send you a verification code by mail.

When you receive the verification code in your letterbox, you simply enter it on your Google business page. That's it. Now people can easily find your business, and there's another level of trust because you have been verified.
